Concentration and Log-Sobolev inequalities: From classical to quantum

Thursday, March 21, 2024 - 4:00pm
Malott 532 (Lounge)

We start from new proof of the functional versions of Talagrand’s inequality using order and entropy properties. In contrast to the classical proof this also works for matrix valued functions defined on manifolds. Matrix valued functions on groups can be applied to quantum systems. Dynamics on quantum systems can be translated into the language of quantum information, and leads to new challenging problems for extending concentration phenomena.

Refreshments will be served at 3:30 PM.
