In this presentation, I will define bow varieties, originally introduced by Nakajima and Takayama, as symplectic reductions of T^*(GL_n/P). This encompasses the well-known classical type A Nakajima quiver varieties. Then, I will share some intriguing facts about bow varieties and compare my definition with the original definitions. If time allows, I may also talk about a generalized Mirkovic-Vybornov isomorphism between bow varieties and generalized affine Grassmannian slices.
