Discrete Geometry and Combinatorics Seminar
Monday, September 11, 2023 - 2:30pm
Malott 206
Over the last 50 years there has been a lot of work done on the subject of generic rigidity and generic global rigidity of frameworks in Euclidean space. Often, especially in global rigidity, people don't know what they are talking about. If you give them a particular well-defined configuration and the associated graph, it may be extremely difficult to determine its global rigidity even in the plane. That is, is there another non-congruent realization with the same corresponding edge lengths in the plane? Lots of examples will be shown with tensegrities and some of the latest news from the Conference at the Fields Institute in Toronto.
