McKay Correspondence

The McKay correspondence is an interesting correspondence that has sparked research in both math and physics. There are many different versions: an equivalence of derived categories, a G-equivariant K-theoretic version, a relationship between subgroups of SU(2) and affine simply-laced Dynkin diagrams, but my plan is to focus on the representation theoretic version giving a correspondence between irreducible representations of a group action and components of an exceptional divisor in a resolution of singularities. I plan to explain some of the background information and describe the 2-dimensional McKay Correspondence, and if there is time, to explain some of the research happening in the 3-D version.
